MINDFULNESS TIPS TO BEAT HOLIDAY STRESS

Tip #1 - STOP MULTI-TASKING- 
Do one thing at a time and finish it before you move on to the next thing. You will be more effective and less stressed.

Tip #2 - THE POWER OF A FEW DEEP BREATHS - 
When your start to feel overwhelmed, notice it and then take a few deep breaths. This calms down your nervous system and helps prevent Christmas outbursts and meltdowns.

Tip #3 - GET OUTSIDE - 
One of the best ways you can de-stress over the holidays is to get outside and go for a walk. Enjoying the fresh air, the snow and the beautiful Christmas lights.

Tip #4 - LIVE IN THE MOMENT - 
Focus on what it is you’re doing, whether you’re decorating the tree, cooking breakfast for your family or simply doing the washing up. You can bring meaning to these everyday tasks that you usually zone out while doing if you just pay attention to the intricacies of the job, like the feeling of the warm water on your hands while doing the pots and pans.

Tip #5 - GRATITUDE - 
Over the holidays make sure to focus on what's right in your life and not on what's wrong. Focusing on gratitude changes your whole physiology - decreasing stress hormones and increasing the feel good hormones such as endorphines. Over the holidays every night before you go to sleep think about a couple of things that you are grateful for from your day.
